Protect Your Business from Scam Emails

    What You Need to Know

Scam emails are a growing problem for small businesses, with increasingly sophisticated tactics designed to trick you into sharing sensitive information. At WipWiz Digital Solutions, we’ve seen a rise in fake emails claiming to relate to websites or business operations.

Here’s how to identify and handle these scam emails to keep your business safe.

    1. Emails About Your Website Only Come from wipwiz.com

If you receive an email claiming to relate to your website but it’s not from wipwiz.com, it is not from us. Be cautious of emails from generic domains like @gmail.com, which are often used in scams.

    2. Look for Red Flags

Scam emails often use tactics like:

    • Creating a false sense of urgency (“Your account will be suspended!”)
    • Offering unsolicited services to grow your business
    • Requesting sensitive information or immediate action

    3. Verify Links Before Clicking

Before clicking on any links, hover over them to see the destination URL. If it looks suspicious or doesn’t match the sender’s supposed domain, do not click.

    4. Verify Sender Information

Refer to the image below as we outline steps to confirm an email’s legitimacy:

    Example Email

When evaluating an email, take the following steps to confirm it’s from a legitimate sender:

    1. Check for trademarks or logos

As shown in the image, legitimate companies will have their official logo displayed (1) in the email header. These logos are trademarked and cannot be used by unauthorized senders
    2. Look for the blue checkmark

Most email services, including Gmail, display a blue checkmark (2) next to verified senders to indicate authenticity.
    3. Verify the sender’s domain

Ensure the email address ends with the company’s official domain (3). Be cautious of generic domains like @gmail.com or @yahoo.com, unless you’ve verified them or know the sender personally. Watch out for unusual or country-specific domains like .in that seem out of place.

    5. Contact Us Directly If in Doubt

If you ever receive a questionable email related to your website or business, reach out to us directly for clarification.
